Questions
What is the difference between a pre-trip inspection and a DVIR?
In the US, the driver reviews the coach before driving (49 CFR 396.13), and the driver vehicle inspection report, or DVIR, records defects at the end of the day (49 CFR 396.11). MotorCoachX gives drivers both a pre-trip and a post-trip inspection, and keeps the defects and the repairs on the coach's record.
Can I require inspections?
Yes. The mandatory setting blocks trip start or completion until the inspection is done.
Can I use my own checklist?
Yes. Edit the items, categories and their order. Charter and shuttle each have their own.
What happens when a driver reports a defect?
The driver describes it. If it affects operation, dispatch is alerted at once and the coach goes to maintenance.
Some of our drivers still use paper. Can we record those?
Yes. Enter a paper inspection by hand from the office.
